Hohe Tauern National Park Mallnitz


With an area of 1,856 km², the Hohe Tauern National Park is the largest protected area in Central Europe. It extends across the provinces of Carinthia, Salzburg and East Tyrol. There are 878 km of hiking trails in the province of Carinthia alone. With 266 mountain peaks, 551 mountain lakes and around 250 glaciers, the park offers an impressive natural landscape. Its highest peak, the Grossglockner, rises a proud 3,798 metres.


The Hohe Tauern National Park offers a wide range of adventure opportunities. With several thousand kilometres of well-marked and well-maintained hiking trails, excursions led by national park rangers and wildlife watching, there is plenty to discover and experience.
